Aspen Mountain Medical Center Announces Accreditation from DNV-GL

The leaders of Aspen Mountain Medical Center (AMMC), Rock Springs’ multi-specialty hospital located at 4401 College Drive, are proud to announce their successful completion of the new accreditation process from DNV GL Healthcare. With specific focus on recognizing hospitals that exceed the patient safety standards from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), DNV GL’s accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.

The accreditation program, called NIAHO® (Integrated Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), involves annual hospital surveys and encourages hospitals to openly share information across departments and seek out improvements in clinical workflows and safety protocols.

“The accreditation program from DNV GL is not only unique, it’s consistent with Aspen Mountain Medical Center’s full commitment to positive outcomes, consistent quality and patient safety,” said Steve Perry, CEO, AMMC. “At the same time, eventually integrating the ISO 9001 quality standards will help ensure that we meet, and exceed, the needs of all our patients.”

ISO 9001 is one of the most widely used quality management systems in the world, with users that include performance-driven organizations in healthcare, professional athletics, industrial manufacturing, aerospace engineering, telecommunications, and more. The goal of the system is to advance quality and sustainability, and it is built on eight key management principles.

“We have taken an entirely different approach to accreditation,” said Patrick Horine, CEO, DNV GL Healthcare. “Since accreditation is a must-have credential for just about every hospital in this country, why not make it more valuable, and get more out of it? That’s where ISO 9001 comes into play, and turns the typical get-your-ticket-punched accreditation exercise into a quality transformation.”

AMMC’s DNV GL accreditation took effect on August 23, 2016, and the hospital is now working to become fully compliant with ISO 9001. To learn more about Aspen Mountain Medical Center, visit them online at AspenMountainMC.com.
